2018 Friends of Scouting

Now is your chance to donate!

Help us reach our goal!

Occoneechee Lodge’s Leadership is looking for your support in our Friends of Scouting campaign. Friends of Scouting is the one time each year when you’re asked to contribute financially to support the Occoneechee Council.

A presenter has already visited my unit. Why is the lodge running a campaign?

Many of you have had presenters come to your unit already this year but if you haven’t had a Friends of Scouting presentation, now is your chance to donate. As an Arrowman, the lodge asks you to pay annual dues and your local unit asks you to pay unit dues that pay national registration fees, Boys Life fee and supports our local unit. Friends of Scouting dollars go toward “behind the scenes” expenses that our local Council incurs during the year that we take advantage of. Friends of Scouting Donations also provide Camperships for Scouts whose families would not otherwise be able to afford to send their child to camp or join Scouting.

How much does it take for the council to run its programs?

It takes about $25 per month per Scout to support the services and programs provided by the Occoneechee Council throughout the year. A target amount of $25 per month will cover all expenses that our Council incurs for your son each year. If you can afford more, fantastic, your donation will help support Scouts who are less fortunate. If you cannot give at that amount, I hope that you will give whatever you can. Please consider how much you benefit from Scouting when making your decision.

Can I set my donation to reoccur monthly or annually?

Yes. Select “Monthly” or”Annually” at the bottom of the donation portal and we’ll automatically charge your donation next month or year. Please keep in mind that you can change or cancel your reoccurring donation after completing your transaction.

The final amount is more than I pledged to give. What gives?

Just above the final donation amount, an optional box to cover processing fees is checked. It costs us money to process your card transaction or bank transfer. To help us receive the full donation amount, you can cover the fees for us. This will help us reach our full goal.

I can give through a bank transfer? What's the difference?

Yes, we allow you to transfer your money via your bank account. Donating with a debit or credit card costs us more in fees. By using the bank transfer, it saves us money in fees. Most banks allow you to transfer your donation to us, even NC SECU.

Can I donate through Google Wallet or Apple Pay?

Yes depending on which browser you’re using. If you’re using Safari and have Apple Pay set up, the option to pay with Apple Pay will appear on the last donation page. The same goes for Google Wallet if you’re using Google Chrome.
