Hello Occoneechee Lodge!

Spring Pow Wow was a great success! I hope you were there to enjoy the fun. If you were unable to sign up, put it on your calendars for next year. You don’t want to miss this event!

Spring Pow Wow was held from March 17-19. Friday night began with an opening campfire program MC’d by Armando. The program consisted of an AIA dance demo and Chapter vs Chapter trivia competition. Friday night ended with a walking taco bar for cracker barrel.

The events began Saturday with the Camp Durant Ice Company sponsored Disc Golf Tournament. The tournament had a good turnout and many scouts of all skill levels came out to compete. The winner was our past Lodge Chief Jacob Labaza with -6! Jacob also won the closest to the pin side-competition.

Next, the main event of Spring Pow Wow began. The Pow Wow! Many great dancers showed up to this event to compete and show off their talents. Towards the end, Lodge Members and Cub Scouts in attendance joined in and got to learn the basics of AIA dancing.

One of the major draw in’s for this event was the Brotherhood trail. 104, yes you read that right, 104 members completed their Brotherhood at Pow Wow. Congratulations to all our new Brotherhood members on this next step on their OA journey!

Along with the Brotherhood trail, many service projects were completed this weekend. Special thanks to everyone who took the time to make Durant a better place! Lots of work was done on staff land and the porch at the STEM building.

One of the most popular events from this outing was the Quest for the Golden Arrow! The Quest consisted of chapter vs chapter competitions to crown a winner. Tug of War, frozen t-shirt race, 3 legged race, 4 man push-up, and spam toss were all offered. Congratulations to the combined team of Temakwe, Neusiok, and Kiowa for winning the Golden Arrow!

To wrap up the evening, the annual Thunderfest was held. There was tons of fun, music, and games. The classic activities of glow in the dark capture the flag, Nintendo Switches playing Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, and nine square in the air were all offered. New to this year’s Thunderfest was an inflatable obstacle course!

Thank you to everyone that attended Spring Pow Wow. I can’t wait to see you all at Conclave or Spring Inductions!
