Have you ever wanted to hike 50 miles in 24 hours or less? Your chance to do so is quickly approaching. The annual Occoneechee Holiday Challenge is scheduled for November 28 – 29. The challenge begins at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon and continues until 2:00 PM the following day. Your path will follow Section 27 of the NC Mountains to the Sea Trail from the Falls Lake dam and continue west for 25 miles towards Creedmoor Rd where you will stop for a midnight snack and then return to the starting point. All along your path, you’ll have the support of other Occoneechee Scouts, manning checkpoints, meal stations and providing first aid.
Registration for this hike is open to anyone with a BSA ID number. You do not have to be a member of Occoneechee Lodge to participate. We encourage all members from the Scouting community to participate.
